Timur Bekmambetov Confirmed For “Ben-Hur”

“Wanted” helmer Timur Bekmambetov is now confirmed as director of the “Ben-Hur” remake at MGM.

Bekmambetov has reportedly closed his deal to direct this new adaptation of the 1880 Lew Wallace novel using a script by Keith Clarke (“The Way Back”).

The property was most famously adapted before into William Wyler’s 1959 feature starring Charlton Heston. This version will more heavily explore the original story’s themes of revenge and redemption.

Sean Daniel and Joni Levin are producing.
