Justin Timberlake is finalizing a deal to star in the romantic comedy “Friends With Benefits” for Screen Gems reports Deadline New York.
Will Gluck directs from a script by Keith Merryman and David Newman. Timberlake plays a headhunter who agrees to sleep together with a female magazine editor friend with no strings attached. He soon falls for her, despite the fact she’s dating someone else.
This is not to be confused with two other projects with the same name – an NBC pilot penned by Scott Neustadter and Michael H. Weber (“500 Days of Summer”), and the Ivan Reitman-directed comedy with Ashton Kutcher and Natalie Portman set up at Paramount previously titled “Fuckbuddies.”
As Screen Gems registered the name first, the Paramount film will likely change titles. The NBC pilot however could well retain the title.
