Tim Roth Is The Skellig

Tim Roth will play the title role in Sky One’s drama “Skellig” reports BBC News.

Based on David Almond’s award-winning kids novel, the film recounts the story of a North English boy who finds the mystical Skellig — part owl, part angel — living in the garage of his new home.

Kelly MacDonald and John Simm, who starred together in the 2003 mini-series “State of Play”, will play the boy’s parents. Bill Milner (“Son of Rambow”) plays the boy.

The two-hour film will premiere on Sky1 and Sky1 HD in Spring 2009 and will later be released in cinemas worldwide.

Shooting has just begun in and around Cardiff with Caerphilly Castle, Wenalt Woods in Caerphilly Mountains and Canada Lakes providing key locations.
