Tim Curry Offers His “Rocky Horror” Blessing

Tim Curry made a rare public appearance this week to promote FOX’s upcoming telemovie remake of “The Rocky Horror Picture Show”. Speaking at the Television Critics Association’s summer press tour, the 70-year-old actor was sidelined by a stroke a few years ago and has primarily stuck to voice work ever since.

He played Dr. Frank-N-Furter in the original 1975 feature, and appears in the new one as the narrator. Turns out that wasn’t the original role in the remake that he was after: “I actually offered myself as Dr. Scott, because I was already in a wheelchair. They thought narrator was a better fit.” The role of Dr. Scott has gone to Ben Vereen.

Curry was also asked straight up if he gives the new film his “unequivocal blessing” to which he responded: “I do indeed” and then amusingly acknowledged that: “There’s not a lot I can do about it, really.”

Kenny Ortega helms the new take which is set to air Thursday, October 20th.
