It’s official, “Game of Thrones” has become HBO’s most popular series to date.
HBO has announced that the big-budget fantasy drama’s season four average now officially clocks in at an average of 18.4 million viewers per episode for this fourth season – passing the 18.2 million viewer high watermark set by the fourth season of “The Sopranos” back in 2002.
It’s especially impressive when you consider how far ratings in general have plummeted since 2002 and how many of HBO’s subsequent big success stories haven’t been able to eclipse the “Sopranos” record.
“Game of Thrones” is also up by four million viewers from the third season, and could grow further once final numbers for the remaining two episodes are in.
