HBO’s eighth and final season of “Game of Thrones” is currently in production and will close out the big-budget fantasy series with six feature-length episodes on a scale unlike anything ever attempted on television before.
With only so many hours of the long running narrative left, the fandom is breathlessly anticipating that final run of episodes and the pressure on those involved in the show to deliver is immense. Actor Kit Harington, who plays Jon Snow on the series, recently discussed the stress with Deadline :
“Well, I think there’s a certain pressure I’ve not felt before. Whereas before, every year there’s always been a bit of pressure, this season is one where we could easily let people down. Obviously, we don’t want to do that so we’re very much stepping up everyone’s game which is very apparent, at least to me. We’re all growing a bit and I think everyone’s attention is very focused on what we’re doing in a way that it’s always been, but it may be more apparent.”
The new season of “Game of Thrones” likely won’t return until sometime early in 2019, but when it does you’ll certainly know about it as it will likely be one of the most publicised small screen events ever.
