“Game of Thrones” actor Will Tudor and “Ackley Bridge” actress Poppy Lee Friar are set to play Olympic-winning ice-dancing pair Christopher Dean and Jayne Torvill in a telemovie for UK broadcaster ITV.
The story will track the artistic and personal relationship between the two skaters, who were British, European, world and Olympic champions in their discipline and national heroes in the UK. Twenty-four million viewers tuned in to their 1984 Olympics win.
Endemol Shine will produce the two-hour telemovie which was written by William Ivory (“Made in Dagenham”). The TV movie will also star Anita Dobson as Torvill’s first coach, Stephen Tompkinson as her father, Dean Andrews and Christine Bottomley as Dean’s parents, and Jaime Winstone as the ice dancing instructor who pairs them together.
