“Game of Thrones” showrunners David Benioff and D.B. Weiss, director Miguel Sapochnik, and actors Iain Glen and Nathalie Emmanuel have reportedly pulled out of attending tomorrow night’s San Diego Comic Con panel for the HBO fantasy drama.
HBO revealed a revised panel lineup on Wednesday which will now include Jacob Anderson (Grey Worm), John Bradley (Samwell Tarly), Maisie Williams (Arya Stark), Nikolaj Coster-Waldau (Jaime Lannister), Liam Cunningham (Davos Seaworth), Conleth Hill (Varys), and Isaac Hempstead Wright (Bran Stark).
The absences have been attributed to production and schedule conflicts. Emmanuel is currently shooting “Fast and Furious 9,” Glen is filming comedy “The Racer” and Sapochnik is finishing up post-production on his sci-fi feature “BIOS”. Benioff and Weiss’ work commitments, beyond a proposed “Star Wars” trilogy and the seemingly in limbo “Confederate” series for HBO, are unknown.
The event would have been the first public appearance by the showrunners since the show’s series finale in May and comes after the divisive final season snagged a record-breaking 32 Emmy nominations on Tuesday. The news also comes as set photos from the upcoming prequel series currently in production shows off a new house sigil. Those shots can be seen below.
Only shortly before sunset the prop boat came out of the grotto again to go back to the production's second base in the port of Gaeta. This time the boat's crew was in costume and the banner (which might be an early Stark one?) revealed. #Bloodmoon #Gaeta pic.twitter.com/WYRFn3aJMT
