Thrones Author’s Werewolves Come To TV

Cinemax is shacking up with sibling HBO’s boyfriend – “Game of Thrones” creator George R.R. Martin – as Cinemax has reportedly ordered a script of Martin’s 1980s werewolf noir novel “The Skin Trade”.

Martin himself made the announcement over the weekend on his blog. The story follows a collections agent who happens to be a werewolf and his friend, a private investigator, as they discover a dark secret behind a series of grisly murders in their decaying city.

The story was originally penned for the fifth volume of Dark Harvest’s annual horror anthology work “Night Vision”. The project went on to win the World Fantasy Award and has since been adapted into comic form.

Mark B. Newbauer optioned the show rights and will executive produce the series. Martin met with a dozen writers to adapt the property with Kalinda Vazquez asked to pen the script. Vazquez, Martin, Vince Gerardis, Paul Sansone, Rich Angell, Newbauer and Lisandro Cruz will alll executive produce.
