Three More Join Damned United

Stephen Graham (“This is England”), Martin Compston (“Sweet Sixteen”) and Peter McDonald (“When Brendan Met Trudy”) have joined the cast of “The Damned United” for Sony Pictures reports Variety.

The biopic of legendary egotistical and eccentric English soccer coach Brian Clough examines his ill-tempered and short-lived tenure as coach at Leeds United in 1974.

The previously announced Michael Sheen plays Clough, Graham plays captain Billy Bremner, whilst McDonald and Compston will be players Johnny Giles and John O’Hare, respectively.

Jim Broadbent, Timothy Spall and Colm Meaney have already been announced for key roles. Liz Carling, Henry Goodman, Maurice Roeves, Mark Cameron, Colin Harris, Joe Dempsie, Giles Anderson, Brian McCardie, Stewart Robertson and Laurie Rea have also just joined the production.

Scribe Peter Morgan (“The Queen,” “The Last King of Scotland”) adapted the script and Tom Hooper will direct the project which will be released next year.
