It’s the most talked about documentary of the year, and now Sundance breakout “Three Identical Strangers” is about to get a narrative feature remake from Film4 and Sidney Kimmel Entertainment.
The original doco followed three strangers who inadvertently discover that they are identical triplets separated at birth. As they try to learn the truth about their origin, several major and unexpected twists shock everyone.
The film won the festival’s Special Jury Prize for documentary storytelling and was released several weeks ago to strong per screen averages in limited release.
There was reportedly fierce, multi-studio competitive bidding for the life rights to two of the three triplets in the doco with the winners being the same time behind another critical darling of this year – “American Animals” which also premiered at Sundance.
