Thor Sequel Loses Composer Burwell

Award-winning composer Carter Burwell has departed the upcoming sequel “Thor: The Dark World” due to that old chestnut – “creative differences”.

The talk first emerged on the weekend over at a posting on Film Score Monthly that Burwell, who has a long collaborative history with the Coen brothers and more recently filmmaker Bill Condon, had dropped out.

At the time it was seen that Burwell had removed the film from his official site resume, and now Deadline has confirmed that Burwell is out with their source saying “They [Marvel] like him but it wasn’t the right project.”

No word on whom his replacement might be, whether the first film’s composer Patrick Doyle will return, or whether another posting on that FSM board which first broke the news is true – that director Alan Taylor is being pushed to the sidelines.
