Yesterday’s launch of the trailer for Taika Waititi’s “Thor: Ragnarok” was the biggest to date for a Marvel Studios film preview.
The trailer has reportedly garnered more than 136 million views in only 24 hours, Disney’s most viewed trailer ever across all its brands – taking over the 127.6 million views for “Beauty and the Beast,” the 112 million for “Star Wars: The Force Awakens,” and the 94 million for “Captain America: Civil War”.
The ‘Ragnarok’ trailer is still not close to the overall most viewed trailer in its first 24 hours – the one the other week for the film adaptation of Stephen King’s “It” which was viewed 197 million times in 24 hours.
The launch of the “Star Wars: The Last Jedi” first trailer, potentially as early as this weekend, is expected to shake at least one of these records up. “Thor: Ragnarok” opens around much of the world in late October, and in the United States on November 3rd.
