It has been speculated about for some time, and now it turns out the famed “Planet Hulk” storyline of the Marvel Comics is going to be adapted for the screen – and sooner than expected.JoBlo reports that the storyline will form the basis of Taika Waititi’s “Thor: Ragnarok” which begins production soon in Australia.
The report indicates that Thor’s mission in the film is to “find the ultimate weapon” to stop Ragnarok from taking place, and so the film will be an amalgamation of the “Planet Hulk” and “Ragnarok” storylines – both heroes ending up on a planet where gladiatorial games are taking place under the auspices of The Grandmaster (Jeff Goldblum).
During this part of the film the site says The Hulk will don the classic Planet Hulk armour from the comic books. Thor also sports a whole new look here – Chris Hemsworth apparently set to have a shaved head for some of the film. The movie is currently targeting a late 2017 release.
The same report has also suggested the identity of the primary villain in James Gunn’s upcoming “Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2”. The site indicates it’s Ayesha (aka Kismet, Paragon and/or Her). In the comics, she’s the creation of the scientific group The Enclave who seek to reset humanity with perfect beings. It has been speculated that Elizabeth Debecki (“The Man from UNCLE,” “The Great Gatsby”) will play the part in the film as her character has yet to be revealed.
