Is it just an easter egg only for hardcore fans, or the suggestion of a cameo that has already been hinted about?
Filming on “Thor: Ragnarok” took place on the streets of Brisbane, Australia yesterday which was redressed to resemble New York City. Actors Chris Hemsworth and Tom Hiddleston were on hand in the roles of Thor and Loki respectively, although both characters were decked out in Earth civilian gear.
MINOR SPOILER AHEAD
Photos and video galore were taken of the shoot by eyewitnesses, but the film’s director Taika Waititi has been extra cheeky with a Twitter posting this morning including one key shot that contains a nod to the Sorcerer Supreme himself – Doctor Strange (Benedict Cumberbatch). Earlier in the day Waititi joked “Spoiler… [Chris Hemsworth] will be appearing in Thor: Ragnarok” but then a few hours later included the following tweet:

The business card that Hemsworth’s character is holding reads 177A Bleecker Street – the address of Doctor Strange’s Sanctum Sanctorum in Greenwich Village, New York. The fact that Thor not only has the card but is looking at it during the filming of a scene has already led to speculation that the pair are seeking Strange’s help at one point in the film.
Will Cumberbatch have a cameo? It is interesting to note that “Doctor Strange” just wrapped additional filming in Los Angeles last week. On the other hand this could simply be a harmless nod for fans – Waititi is very self-aware of fandom and a joker so this would be up his alley. Other set photos from yesterday also reveal destruction and rubble in some scenes, likely the aftermath of events in “Doctor Strange”.
“Thor: Ragnarok” will continue production in Australia through October before opening in cinemas next November.
