Thompson Enters Sophomore Class

19-year-old Canadian actor Reece Thompson (“Rocket Science,” “Dreamcatcher”) will star in Yari Film Group’s high school comedy “Sophomore” alongside Mischa Barton, Bruce Willis and Rumer Willis reports MTV News.

Director Brett Simon helms the story of a popular Catholic high school girl (Barton) who pairs up with a dorky newspaper reporter (Thompson) to do some investigative reporting after some SAT exams are stolen.

Thompson will play Bobby Funke, a frequently picked-upon sophomore whose Sam Spade-like voiceover powers the narrative as he investigates the crime and runs afoul of John T. Kirkpatrick (Willis), a Gulf War veteran turned principal.

Tim Calpin and Kevin Jakubowksi penned the highly talked about script previous entitled “Assassination of a High School President.” Shooting began this week in New Jersey.
