Thomas Directs More Comedic Dallas

Comedy director Betty Thomas (“The Brady Bunch”) is in discussions to helm the feature film adaptation of classic 80’s TV series “Dallas” reports Variety.

Regency and 20th Century Fox are overhauling the problematic production, hiring Pam Brady (“Hot Rod”) to pen a new script.

John Travolta remains attached to play slimy oil tycoon J.R. Ewing, but names mentioned last year like Luke Wilson and Shirley MacLaine are no longer involved.

The budget for the more comedic “Dallas” should also be lower than the estimated $65 million for the previous version. A January start date is being targeted.
