With “The Wolverine,” Hugh Jackman’s second solo outing as the character utilised Frank Miller’s storyline which saw Logan visiting Japan. Now a new report suggests another famous comic storyline will form the basis for Jackman’s third solo and final outing as the character.
Marvel Movie News says that the new film will be based on Mark Millar and Steve McNiven’s ‘Old Man Logan’ storyline from the 2008 run of the comic. The story is set in a future gone dystopian after the super villains of the Marvel Universe came together and eliminated all of the world’s superheroes in one fell swoop.
If true, there would be some major changes from the comic as the characters mostly consisted of ones outside of Fox’s control and almost entirely in the hands of Marvel Studios – with the exception of Wolverine himself and Emma Frost.
Whichever way it goes, the third “Wolverine” is scheduled for a release on March 3rd 2017.
UPDATE: El Mayimbe hs ended up debunking his own rumour this morning, saying: “no Old Man Logan for last Wolverine film”.
