Oscar Winner Anne Hathaway may reunite with director Gary Marshall for a third film in “The Princess Diaries” franchise, one which would be primarily set in the Big Apple.
Speaking with People Magazine as his new rom-com ensemble “Mother’s Day” is on the verge of release, Marshall says: “I was with Anne Hathaway a couple weeks ago, it looks like we want to do ‘Princess Diaries 3’ in Manhattan. Anne Hathaway is very pregnant, so we have to wait until she has the baby and then I think we’re going to do it.”
The second film saw Chris Pine serving as Lord Nicholas Devereaux, a love interest for Hathaway’s character. Would he be back for the third? “Maybe. He’s quite big now, you know. Chris Pine likes me, you know why? Because his father is in ‘Mother’s Day!’.”
The last time Marshall and Hathaway teamed up was on 2010’s “Valentine’s Day”. The two previous “Princess Diaries” films grossed just shy of $300 million worldwide.
