Third “Apes” To Get A 1968 ‘Apes’ Character

Potential MINOR SPOILER Ahead for “War for the Planet of the Apes”.

The first trailer for “War for the Planet of the Apes” arrived a few weeks ago, a preview which started out with a mute girl (Amiah Miller) riding on horseback with a group of the apes including Caesar (Andy Serkis). The same trailer also had girl playing with a part of an old Chevy Nova car.

Today, EW reports that the mute child in question is Nova, the lead female human character from the original 1968 “Planet of the Apes” film which was played by Linda Harrison in the classic.

The mag makes it clear this isn’t an ancestor or someone else getting the name which will be passed down – this is THE Nova which would suggest the 1968 film takes place within 2-3 decades (at most) from the events of ‘War’. It’s certainly the most overt connection yet between the rebooted franchise and the original one, even though the character isn’t likely involved in the storyline.

“War for the Planet of the Apes” opens July 14th.
