Charlize Theron and Helen Mirren will be reprising their roles of cyberterrorist Cipher and criminal family matriarch Magdalene Shaw, respectively, in the upcoming ninth “Fast and Furious” film which is currently filming.
Both made their first appearance in the previous film, 2017’s “The Fate of the Furious,” and their casting announcements were made by actor Vin Diesel who took to social media to welcome their returns.
Diesel says: “We’ve got a lot of the original cast here, including Oscar winners like Charlize Theron and Helen Mirren, a few new surprises, including John Cena, who, I think, completely shines in this movie.”
Theron’s character was recently discussed as a member of a potential spin-off film focusing on the female characters from the long-running film series.
Michelle Rodriguez, Nathalie Emmanuel, Lucas Black, Tyrese Gibson, and Ludacris also star. Justin Lin returns to helm the film which opens May 22nd 2020.
