A few days ago came word that “John Wick” co-director David Leitch is the frontrunner to direct 20th Century Fox’s “Deadpool” sequel in the wake of the departure of returning director Tim Miller.
Miller departed the project last weekend over creative differences with leading man/producer Ryan Reynolds with reported clashes over casting, budget and other issues. The report about Leitch said that there doesn’t appear to be an official offer on the table yet.
Deadline has since added to the report, saying that both “The Martian” scribe Drew Goddard and rising TV director Magnus Martens (“Luke Cage,” “12 Monkeys”) among others have also met with the studio to pitch their vision. The site adds that despite the other meets, Leitch remains the top choice.
