Filmmaker James Mangold and actor Hugh Jackman are hard at work in New Orleans at the moment filming the third “Wolverine” movie which is slated to be Jackman’s final outing in the role. As previously announced, Boyd Holbrook also stars as the film’s villain who is said to be the relentless and intense head of security for a global enterprise.
Today, a new report at the Nerdist has gone into more details about the film’s bad guys. Their source says the Reavers will battle Wolverine in the upcoming film – the Reavers in the comics are a team of criminal cyborgs that dedicate themselves to the destruction of mutants. The group is led by Donald Pierce, a half-robot who built the Reavers to wipe out all mutants and some humans.
Richard E. Grant has been confirmed to play a mad scientist in the film, could he be playing Pierce? In the comics Pierce was also a member of the Hellfire Club, a group of rich, elite mutants who want to promote their own influence on the happenings in the world.
As for the ‘global enterprise’ whom Holbrook’s character works for, the obvious assumption is that it’s Essex Corp. seen in the closing moments of “X-Men: Apocalypse”. Said company has been collecting the blood of different mutants over time and potentially using it to build the Reavers.
“Wolverine 3” comes to cinemas on March 3rd 2017.
