The Thin Man Remake Moving Ahead

Rob Marshall and John DeLuca have officially signed on for the planned remake of “The Thin Man” at Warner Bros. Pictures, Infinitum Nihil Company and Langley Park Pictures.

Marshall is confirmed to direct and this will re-team him with his “Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides” star Johnny Depp who is attached to play the male lead role.

The original 1934 film starred William Powell and Myrna Loy, and was based on Dashiell Hammett’s novel. The story follows an alcoholic former P.I. named Nick Charles and his wealthy heiress wife Nora who investigate a murder that involves an eccentric inventor and his bizarre family.

These polished and sophisticated society types spend as much time engaging in witty banter with each other as they do investigating the crime. Five sequels were produced.

Jerry Stahl is attached as screenwriter. Depp, Marshall, DeLuca, Kevin McCormick and Christi Dembrowski are producing.
