Relativity Media is finally moving forward on its long-delayed sequel to Bryan Bertino’s low-budget horror hit “The Strangers” reports Bloody Disgusting.
Scott Speedman and Liv Tyler starred in the original home invasion hit about a young couple terrorized by three masked assailants who break into the remote summer home in which they are staying and cut off all means of escape.
Shot for just $9 million, the film hit several release delays before finally scoring a theatrical release in May 2008 where it went on to gross $82 million worldwide.
In the sequel, the three mysterious figures stalk a family of four that is forced to live in an abandoned trailer after being evicted from their home due to the bad economy.
Laurent Briet will direct “The Strangers: Part II” which is now targeting an April start date, though that date is not yet definite. The project is however determined to shoot this year after almost two years of false starts.
