One common complaint lobbed against the Marvel Cinematic Universe has been the reluctance of those involved to give Scarlett Johansson’s Black Widow her own movie. The lone female Avenger has stolen the show in the various movies she’s been in but hasn’t had her own dedicated feature as yet.
Should one ever go forward though, that directing gig is one that will be highly sought after. In an interview for Asian TV which has now gone up on Youtube, “Captain America: The Winter Soldier” and “Avengers: Infinity War” directors Joe and Anthony Russo have put up their hands for the gig – giving an enthusiastic response when asked about their possible interest in directing a standalone feature based on the character.
Joe Russo then goes on to say: “We find that the character is one of if not the richest character in the Marvel universe. A very complex character, haunted by demons and her understanding of the world is fascinating. I think there is a lot that can be done with that character.”
Johansson will reprise the role in this year’s “Captain America: Civil War” and the two-part “Avengers: Infinity War” saga so we’ll still be seeing plenty of her in the near future.
