“The Fate of the Furious” remained the box-office king around the world this past weekend, and fans of the series have been talking up the film and their favorite elements – one of them being the on-screen chemistry between Dwayne Johnson’s Luke Hobbs and Jason Statham’s Deckard Shaw.
Even before the film came out, the talk of the two action heroes teaming together on screen again got people excited. Then came word that a spin-off starring the two characters was being developed with Chris Morgan penning the script.
Today, Johnson has teased a bit more information via his Instagram account. After thanking everyone involved in the film’s production for their help in the film and celebrating its grossing of over $1 billion at the box office, Johson added:
“A very very special shout out to a certain bald-headed, English tea drinkin’, crumpets eatin’, God Save The Queen singin’ suuuuuum bitch, Jason Statham. One fine day, we will give the audience what they want and fight. And it will be the greatest fight in the history of movies.
We will then drink like brothers as you nurse your wounds, because I’m gonna knock your teeth so far down your throat, you’re gonna have to stick a toothbrush up your ass to brush ’em. Thanks for trusting me brotha and cheers to always having fun for audience.”
It had previously been reported that there was a post-credit scene at the end of the film between the two actors that served as something of a setup this potential spin-off, but it was allegedly cut from the theatrical release by star and producer Vin Diesel because it was filmed without Diesel’s consent.
