For a franchise built on the concept of family above all else, and family being what you make it rather than by blood, the “Fast and Furious” saw its family almost tearing itself apart in the lead up to the release of “The Fate of the Furious” last year.
The Vin Diesel/Dwayne Johnson feud during the film’s making spilt out into Tyrese Gibson being mad at Johnson as the action star began talks to lead a spin-off without the other cast members bar Jason Statham. Gibson himself was going through some other issues at the same time it seemed because the feud, what it was, was almost entirely one-sided with Johnson effectively staying out of it as Gibson berated him online.
This week, Johnson was asked about the beef during an appearance on “Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen” and explains where things sit now:
“That whole thing with Tyrese, it was pretty disappointing because I had been friends with Tyrese for a very long time. I always feel like a beef requires two people to actually jump in it, and it was pretty one-sided and he had voiced his opinion a lot on social media. Apparently, he was going through some stuff, too, in his personal life. But, no, we haven’t talked and I don’t see where we would and, to me, there’s no need to have a conversation.”
Johnson is currently getting ready for said ‘Furious’ spin-off film which opens next Summer while Gibson is expected to return to the main franchise for the ninth “Fast and Furious” film to open in 2020.
