Dwayne Johnson has made it pretty clear that he’s planning on starring in a “Shazam” movie for Warner Bros. Pictures and DC Comics. What has been confusing is the question of which role will he play – the hero Shazam (aka. Captain Marvel) or the villain Black Adam.
Out doing press for “Hercules” in Mexico, Johnson revealed the reason for the confusion – it hasn’t been decided yet. Johnson tells the Associated Press in an interview that has been translated from Spanish into very broken English:
“Interpret a character in DC Comics. It’s the story of Shazam, but I can not say now if (my role) is Shazam and Black Adam. We’ve been developing for some time and have been a fan of anti-heroes. And this particular I think that we will make justice. I’m putting my heart and soul into this role.”
Johnson indicates that an official announcement about the movie will be made soon and reiterated that he’s always been interested in playing two DC characters since childhood: Green Lantern and Black Adam.
