The Random Spiel: January 5th 2007

A first glimpse of footage from Disney’s 2007 line-up is out. Aside from the perenially cheerful young hosts asking Johnny Depp about the best way to clear up acne, there’s actually some footage from Ratatouille, Enchanted, Pirates 3, Bridge to Terabithia, Underdog, and The Game Plan.

-A whole bunch of excellent “300” character posters have gone up at Empire. Check ’em out here and here.

-“Magnolia” and “Boogie Nights” helmer Paul Thomas Anderson’s first film in five years – “There Will Be Blood” – will hit theaters sometime in December 2007. Expect this to be an Oscar push next year.

– Sony has pulled its Nic Cage sci-fi thriller “Next” from its 2007 line-up. No new date yet announced.

– Dying to see Pan’s Labyrinth but can’t find it playing in your area? No problem, a list of which cities will have screenings of the film and when it will open in those particular cities is up.

-Despite the TV series spin-off going ahead, there’s talk of Angelina Jolie & Brad Pitt reteaming onscreen for a “Mr. & Mrs. Smith” film sequel as their next project together.

– “Saw 4” will begin shooting in and around Toronto in March according to Movies Online.

-The Springboard UK casting site has posted up audition submissions for a “Gladiator” sequel, sounds a bit hopeful.

-Disney has confirmed that the official title for the “National Treasure” sequel will be “National Treasure: The Book of Secrets”. Further details on the plot are at Slashfilm
