The Raid Sequel Officially Underway

It has been pretty set for a while, but now it’s official – a sequel is on the way to his Indonesian action hit “The Raid” for XYZ Films, PT Merantu and Sony Pictures Worldwide says Heat Vision.

Filmmaker Gareth Evans is set to return as helmer on the film, as will leading man Iko Uwais. The pair have previously discussed the intention of making a trilogy of films in the series.

The original followed an Indonesian SWAT team who gets trapped in a Jakarta slum and its members are forced to fight their way out. It has played various film festivals to highly enthusiastic responses and will score a theatrical release in various English-language territories next week.

This sequel, entitled “Berandal”, will have a significantly larger budget while its shooting schedule will include approximately 100 days of physical production.
