Actress Anne Hathaway has confirmed that the script for a third “The Princess Diaries” is complete, fifteen years after the last film was in cinemas.
Appearing on Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen to promote “Serenity,” the actress revealed that she wants to make the movie and that both Julie Andrews and producer Debra Martin Chase are on board:
“There is a script for the third movie. There is a script. I want to do it. Julie wants to do it. Debra Martin Chase, our producer, wants to do it. We all really want it to happen. It’s as important to us as it is to you, and we don’t want to deliver anything until it’s ready, but we’re working on it.”
The late Garry Marshall-helmed both the original 2001 and 2004 films which were based on Meg Cabot’s book of the same name. Whether Chris Pine, who played her love interest in the second film, might return as well isn’t clear.
