Warner Bros. Pictures has revealed a new “The Nice Guys” TV spot which also serves as a commercial for the fictional detective agency run by Ryan Gosling and Russell Crowe’s characters in the Shane Black-directed noir detective comedy. In the ad there’s a number – 844-4-NICE-GUYS – which people have already been dialling and apparently includes a longer version of the back and forth between the pair.
Speaking about the film with People recently, director Shane Black says: “It is an R-rated film and it’s a caper. It’s a little fast, a little funny and a little rough in places, kind of coarse. These guys are working-class dudes, they’re not really sophisticated private detectives, so it’s a chance to do the kind of thriller I don’t see too much of anymore.”
Set in Los Angeles in the 1970s, the pair play a fighter and a private detective who attempt to solve a murder. Kim Basinger, Keith David, Matt Bomer, Beau Knapp, Angourie Rice, and Margaret Qualley also star in the film which opens May 20th.
