The New Candyman Begins Filming

Principal photography has officially begun in Chicago on the ‘spiritual sequel’ to the original 1992 horror film “Candyman” with Jordan Peele and Win Rosenfeld co-writing the script.

Yahya Abdul-Mateen II (“Aquaman”), Teyonah Parris (“If Beale Street Could Talk”), Nathan Stewart-Jarrett (“Misfits”) and Colman Domingo (“Euphoria”) lead the cast of the film which Nia DaCosta (“Little Woods”) is directing for Monkeypaw Productions and MGM.

The story will return to Cabrini-Green housing projects of the original film, which have largely been gentrified in the years since. Tony Todd starred as the titular character in the original and won’t be replaced with another actor according to DaCosta.
