Zefr, a YouTube data and marketing company, have revealed a list of the most popular movie trailer launches of the year and the winners may not be what you expect.
Taking the top spot is the first trailer for “Fifty Shades of Grey” released back in July. That clip has clocked up 93 million views, ahead of the teaser trailer for “Star Wars: The Force Awakens” which scored 81 million views. To be fair, ‘Grey’ had the time advantage considering the ‘Force’ trailer only scored a release less than three weeks ago.
Behind them was “Avengers: Age of Ultron” in third with 78 million views, “Jurassic World” with 64 million views, the first “Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles” trailer with 58 million views, and the “Furious 7” trailer with 57.5 million views.
Rounding out the top ten are the first trailers “Minions” (54M), “The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies” (45M), “Dumb and Dumber To” (44M) and “Interstellar” (39M).
