The Most Pirated TV Series Of 2015

Another annual piracy list has hit today, this one looking at the most pirated TV series of the year. TorrentFreak published the results which indicates piracy figures for TV episodes are still on the rise, as is the demand for higher quality episodes with 720p and 1080p streams showing a big uptick this year.

As usual these numbers are from public BitTorrent trackers and several other sources for the site. Online streaming and downloads from filelocker services (Rapidshare, Rapidgator, etc.) are not included since there are no public sources to draw data from which means total piracy numbers are significantly higher.

Unsurprisingly it’s HBO’s “Game of Thrones” which was the clear winner, the big budget fantasy series winning the title for the fourth year in a row. The season finale pulled in an estimated 14.4 million downloads via BitTorrent, more than double that of runner-up “The Walking Dead” with 6.9 million downloads.

“Arrow,” “Vikings,” “Suits” and “The Big Bang Theory” continue to be popular series for downloading whilst “The Blacklist” rejoins the list after missing last year. Three new shows also hopped onboard this year – “The Flash,” “Mr. Robot” and “Supergirl”. Here’s the list in full showing off the number of the most downloaded episode of each series:

1. “Game of Thrones” (14.4 million)
2. “The Walking Dead” (6.9 million)
3. “The Big Bang Theory” (4.4 million)
