The Most Pirated Films Of 2015

The annual list of the most pirated films of the year has been released by Excipio via Variety and the most interesting element this time around isn’t the titles but the straight up surge in levels – despite the proliferation of legitimate streaming services making a real breakthrough in various key markets this year.

As per usual it was a late previous year title that topped the list – in this case “Interstellar” with 46.7 million downloads. In fact the entire Top Ten sits above the 30 million downloads of last year’s winner “The Wolf of Wall Street” with the growth of overseas markets like Brazil tipped to be the key reason for the surge this year. The list of films are as follows:

1. “Interstellar” (46,762,310 dls)
2. “Furious 7” (44,794,877 dls)
3. “Avengers: Age of Ultron” (41,594,159 dls)
4. “Jurassic World” (36,881,763 dls)
5. “Mad Max: Fury Road” (36,443,244 dls)
6. “American Sniper” (33,953,737 dls)
7. “Fifty Shades of Grey” (32,126,827 dls)
8. “The Hobbit: Battle Of The Five Armies” (31,574,872 dls)
9. “Terminator: Genisys” (31,001,480 dls)
