“The Long Dark” Being Adapted For Film

The wilderness survival video game “The Long Dark” is getting a live-action film adaptation with Jeremy Bolt (“Resident Evil”) set to produce.

The game, which has already sold 1.3 million copies in early access on Steam and hits PS4 this week, follows bush pilot Will Mackenzie and Dr. Astrid Greenwood who have become stranded in the wilderness of Northern Canada following a geomagnetic disaster.

As they search for each other across an eerie landscape, Astrid and Mackenzie come to terms with the ways the world around them has changed.

As part of a proof of concept for the film, Oscar winner Christopher Plummer and director Jared Pelletier have teamed to produce a five minute short titled ‘Elegy’ which is said to be an “example of the level of quality and the overall tone” the film will aim for says Hinterland game company founder Raphael van Lierop.
