The Killing Revived For Season Four

AMC’s “The Killing” can’t be killed it would seem.

VOD streaming service Netflix is reportedly resurrecting the crime drama for a shortened six-episode fourth season. The series, a remake of the Danish drama “Forbrydelsen”, was first officially cancelled after its second season.

Those two seasons however did very well on Netflix though, the heavily serialised mystery lending itself far more to on-demand viewing. Viewership was good enough that Netflix convinced AMC to green light a third season if Netflix was able to partly cover the production costs. They did, and the third season premiered this Summer on AMC.

Reviews were solid for the third outing, but ratings were not and so it was cancelled by AMC back in September. The show’s production house Fox TV began looking for another home for the series – and Netflix has now taken them up on it.

AMC is not involved in this fourth season. Stars Mireille Enos and Joel Kinnaman are set to return, as is showrunner Veena Sud. No word on the other supporting cast members as yet.
