The first trailer for New Line’s film adaptation of Stephen King’s “IT” has smashed records across social media, YouTube and other video channels.
In its first 24-hour day, the trailer was reportedly viewed more than 197 million times globally with more than 81 million views and over 1.8 million shares on the U.S. Facebook mentions alone.
197 million views easily bests the previous 24-hour record holder, “The Fate of the Furious,” which recorded 139 million views in a single day. Others include “Beauty And The Beast” with 128 million, “Fifty Shades Darker” with 114 million, and “Star Wars: The Force Awakens” with 112 million.
Thirty localized versions of the trailer were released at the same time. At 36 hours, the figure has risen to a whopping 246 million views.
