Additional filming has begun on the next two installments of Warner Bros. Pictures’ “The Hobbit” trilogy in New Zealand.
The additional photography is expected to tweak elements of the second film and fill in substantial gaps for the third film as the decision to turn the story into a trilogy wasn’t made until filming was essentially over.
As a result, Jackson is reassembling his cast to shoot more material over the next few weeks – a bunch of which is expected to be the Battle of the Five Armies sequences for the third film.
A new video blog explaining the extra filming is expected to go online shortly.
“The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug” and “The Hobbit: There and Back Again” are currently set for December 13th 2013 and December 17th 2014 releases respectively.
