SPOILERS AHEAD FOR SEASON FOUR
Following this year’s mid-season finale, you wouldn’t expect David Morrissey’s The Governor character to be returning to AMC’s “The Walking Dead”.
Yet, Morrissey himself proved oddly elusive when recently asked to answer if the character is gone from the show forever. Morrissey tells the Press Association:
“Something happened to him. I feel like a shady politician where I can’t confirm and I can’t deny anything. Certainly, bad things befell him at the end of the last episode but we just have to wait and see.”
Producer Gale Anne Hurd previously confirmed that the villain is definitely dead and won’t return as a zombie, but this sounds like the actor could make a cameo return in either flashback or Lori-style visions.
Morrissey is nothing but thankful for his role and the show’s fanbase: “They’re very vocal fans, and amazing and I find it so heart-warming to be amongst them — even though they boo me because I’m the villain! But that means I’m doing a good job. It’s a show that really does punch large and I’m very proud to be associated with [it]. I love being on ‘The Walking Dead,’ I love playing The Governor and it’s given me such a great connection with the public.”
