The “Gotti” Film Changes Its Release Plans

Ten days before it was slated to debut, the Kevin Connolly-directed biopic “Gotti” has left its distributor Lionsgate Premiere as producers have opted to change their release strategy.

John Travolta, Kelly Preston, Pruitt Taylor Vince, Stacy Keach, and Spencer Lofranco star in the story of the rise and fall of John Gotti, the late head of the Gambino crime family. Lem Dobbs and Leo Rossi wrote the screenplay for the film which was filmed last year.

Lionsgate Premiere handles speciality films which typically debut in a limited theatrical along with a day and date VOD release. The producers have now decided they want a wide theatrical release and have exercised a buy-back clause in the distribution agreement.

The project has now been sold back to Emmett/Furla/Oasis and the plan is now for a wide release in May.
