Focus Features and Carnival Films have officially announced that a feature film adaptation of popular and acclaimed period drama series “Downton Abbey” is in the works with filming to take place later this Summer.
The original principal cast from the acclaimed television series have assembled to return for the film which will once again be set around the Edwardian English country home and follows the lives of the Crawley family and the servants who worked for them in the early 20th century.
Creator and Oscar winner Julian Fellowes has penned the film’s screenplay and will produce alongside Gareth Neame and Liz Trubridge. Brian Percival, who directed the series pilot, will return to direct the film.
Focus Features and Universal Pictures will handle International distribution.
