The CW Network has given early renewals to seven of its primetime series, giving each a full run for the 2017-2018 season. The announcement was made during the network’s session at the Television Critics Association Press Tour in Pasadena.
The seven includes “Crazy Ex-Girlfriend” for a third season, “Jane the Virgin” for a fourth, and “Supernatural” for an unprecedented thirteenth. Also renewed are its four DC Comics shows – “Arrow” for a sixth season, “The Flash” for a fourth season, “DC’s Legends of Tomorrow” for a third season and “Supergirl” for a third season. Specific premiere dates for each series will be announced at a later time.
CW President Mark Pedowitz says: “Early pickups of these seven series now allow our producers to plan ahead for next season, and gives us a solid base to build on for next season, with original scripted series to roll out all year long.”
Notably missing are “iZombie,” “The 100” and “The Originals” though all are mid-season starters and have yet to premiere their new seasons. Renewal decisions for those will likely come around the TV upfronts in May.
