The CW has begun development of an hourlong drama loosely inspired by the life of actor-dancer and “Footloose” remake star Kenny Wormald.
John Wells Prods. and Warner Bros. TV will produce the project which is described as “Entourage meets 30 Feet From Stardom” and explores the behind-the-scenes shenanigans of Hollywood’s hip-hop dance scene and a young man who is top-tier back-up dancer who dreams of becoming a choreographer.
Wormald worked as a backup dancer for the likes of Justin Timberlake, Madonna, Jennifer Lopez, The Pussycat Dolls, and Christina Aguilera before transitioning into acting with “Footloose” and the upcoming Beach Boys movie “Love and Mercy”.
Playwright Andrew Hinderaker is penning the project which John Wells and Andrew Stearn will executive produce. Wormald will serve as a consultant.
