The CW has given official pilot orders for six potential new series for the network this Fall. The pilots will be produced and then considered, how many will make it to series isn’t clear and won’t be revealed until the network upfronts in May. The six are:
“Riverdale” – Set in present day and based on the iconic Archie Comics characters, this surprising and subversive take on comic explores the surrealism of small town life – the darkness and weirdness bubbling beneath Riverdale’s wholesome facade.
“Frequency” – a reimagining of the Dennis Quaid & Jim Caviezel film. In this, a female police detective in 2016 discovers she is able to speak via a ham radio with her estranged father (also a detective) who died in 1996.
“Transylvania” – In 1880, a young woman in search of her missing father and a wrongfully-disgraced Scotland Yard Detective witness the births of the most famous monsters and villains in history during their travels in the Romanian countryside.
“No Tomorrow” – A comedy about a risk-averse female procurement manager at a major online distribution center who falls for a freewheeling man who lives life to the fullest because he believes the apocalypse is imminent.
“Untitled Mars Project” – A team of explorers arrive on Mars to join the first human colony on the planet, only to discover that their predecessors have vanished. The colonists are forced to change their mission to investigation and survival
“Untitled Paranormal Project” – A young woman seeks help from a parapsychologist when she begins to experience paranormal phenomena. Kevin Williamson (“The Vampire Diaries”) is spearheading this.
