“Gotham” executive producer Bruno Heller has confirmed that The Court of Owls are going to be worked into upcoming episodes of the Batman prequel series.
In the comics, The Court of Owls are a secret society that have existed in Gotham for centuries and are made up of some of Gotham’s oldest and wealthiest families who use money and a group of highly trained assassins known as Talons to wield their influence.
Heller tells ComicBook.com that the mysterious group will definitely factor into the show in the near future:
“We are absolutely going to explore that world down the line. Looking at the longevity of the show, we have to hold some cards back, we can’t just throw all of the elements, all of the story at once. The long arc of the show is Bruce Wayne’s journey of discovery down into the depths of the physical and meta-physical world of Gotham. The Court of Owls is a brilliant conceit that will absolutely be part of our storytelling. I just won’t tell you when.”
It has been suggested that the second season villains Theo and Tabitha Galavan could well be under the employ of The Court. In related news, a new red-band trailer for several upcoming episodes of the show can be seen below:
