In the space of just two weeks, Amazon Prime Video’s series adaptation of Garth Ennis’ comic “The Boys” has become one of the streaming service’s most watched series of all time according to Amazon itself in a statement.
The official numbers of viewers were not given by the company, only that the project has surpassed all their predictions. A second season was already greenlit and is currently in production with the aim to premiere next year at around the same time of year.
The story is set in a world where superheroes embrace the darker side of their massive celebrity and fame, and tracks a well-trained hit squad who take down corrupt superheroes with no more than their blue-collar grit and a willingness to fight dirty.
“Supernatural” creator Eric Kripke and “Preacher” series creators Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg executive produce the show which stars Karl Urban, Elizabeth Shue, Jennifer Esposito, Karen Fukuhara, Laz Alonso, Jack Quaid, Tomer Kapon, Chace Crawford, Erin Moriarty, Antony Starr and Jessie T. Usher.
