Following on from his success with the horror film “The Boy,” filmmaker Craig William Macneill is set to direct all six episodes of Syfy’s new six-part anthology series “Channel Zero: Candle Cove” which is slated to premiere in October.
Based on an online tale by Kris Straub, the story centers on one man’s obsessive recollections of a mysterious children’s television program from the 1980s – and his ever-growing suspicions about the role it might have played in a series of nightmarish and deadly events from his childhood.
Nick Antosca (“Hannibal,” “Friday the 13th”) wrote the pilot and will serve as executive producer alongside Max Landis (“Chronicle,” “American Ultra”).
The hiring follows in a recent trend by Syfy to get acclaimed indie filmmakers to direct pilots for their series. Others have included Oscar nominee Juan Carlos Fresnadillo for the upcoming “Prototype,” Mike Cahill who did “The Magicians” pilot, and Alex Pastor who is helming the Affleck & Damon produced “Incorporated”.
